A kiwi is a flightless native bird.
It comes in different size, shape and colours .It eats bugs, lives in a hole in the bush it is called a burrow and it lays the largest eggs.
The bird is protected by the law. The Taranaki Trust is saving them in our area. It comes out at night and if you sit outside you can hear the Kiwi calls.
At night the Kiwi comes out and eats bugs from under logs and off the ground. The male Kiwi stays and looks after the egg.
The kiwi is protected and New Zealand’s symbol for Rugby and many other things.
